Colorado was the stop that almost wasn't. I'd meant to push straight to Wyoming, but the aspens were turning and a ranger at a gas station told me I had three days, maybe four. I turned the van around and chased the color up and down the passes. The aspens don't wait for you — that's the lesson of this stretch of road.
