The Story Behind the Stop

Southern Utah

Southern Utah is where the journey changed. I'd been chasing light for six months, but here the light chases you — it climbs the canyon walls and sets them on fire, then drops out of the sky in minutes. I stayed longer than I planned. The stop became a kind of obsession. I'd wake before dawn, drive a dirt road I half-remembered, and wait. Some days nothing happened. Some days the whole canyon turned the color of something burning, and I'd shoot until the camera was too warm to hold. This is where 'The Last Light' was made — the frame that started the journey editions. I knew it the moment I took it: this one stays.
