The Story Behind the Stop

Oregon

The journey began where it always made sense to begin — at the edge of the continent. I spent two weeks tracing the Oregon coast, sleeping in turnouts and waking to fog. The light here doesn't perform; it just arrives, soft and grey, and you learn to work with what it gives you. Most of these photographs were taken before seven in the morning, with the sand still damp and the sea stacks still half-hidden.
